City council met in special session on Tuesday to vote on a new proposal to purchase the Traer Manufacturing Building.
The original proposal put forth by the current owners was for the city to be responsible for all repairs. But through hard work and some haggling, the city came out with a better deal.
The city will be accepting the building as a donation, and will receive $250,000 from the current ownership to help offset the cost of repairing at least a portion of the structure.
The motion was made by Lee Wiges and seconded by Dahn Kennedy. The council voted unanimously in favor of the deal, and expressed gratitude to the Traer Development Corporation and Kent Holst for their hard work in getting the extra money to help fund the repairs.
The Star-Clipper will have full details of the proposed agreement in next week's issue.
