Donors desperately needed for July 19 blood drive

July 12, 2012
Traer Star-Clipper

The American Red Cross is in desperate need of donors at the upcoming Traer Community Blood Drive.

The drive will be held at the Memorial Building, 414 Second St., on Thursday, July 19 from 12:30 to 6 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Traer American Legion and donors are needed because blood levels are at critical lows! You can help save lives by donating just a little of your time and a pint of blood.

Please participate in this worthwhile cause. Appointments save time and can be made by calling Cecilia Podhajsky at 319-478-2947.

Every summer, we try to stress the great important of people donating an hour of their time and a pint of their blood to save the lives of others. Many persons in the Traer area depend on the components of blood every day. Even if you don't know their names, they are your neighbors and they and their families are counting on you for a quality of life they otherwise would not have.

The blood products are not only used locally, but the Waterloo hospitals along with hospitals around the nation and the military around the world rely on donors like you. By donating a pint of blood, at least three lives will be saved. Blood is one product that cannot be artificially manufactured. Please take the time to donate and enjoy the goodies, along with a root beer float afterwards. Eighty donors are needed to make the quota requested by the Red Cross.
