TMU moves ahead with scholarship

July 26, 2012
Ross Bercik - Managing Editor , Traer Star-Clipper

The Traer Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees met in regular session on Thursday, July 12, 2012 in Municipal Hall.

Chairman Joe Morris, Nick Podhajsky and Dan Larmore were in attendance, with Suzanne Earley and Sandra Whannel absent.

The board moved through the usual business of approving the agenda, minutes of the previous meeting, July bills and consent agenda.

The board came back to the issue of possibly sponsoring a scholarship for a deserving North Tama senior and has set down a list of criteria to implement. There will be three potential scholarships available each year, and the recipient must be a graduate from North Tama or a TMU customer.

The recipient must be pursuing a post-secondary degree program in water and/or electrical education. Up to $500 will be granted for each scholarship. The motion was approved unanimously with a roll call vote.

The proposed motion to renew the agreement with Husdon also saw no opposition, and was approved unanimously.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the TMU Board will be on Thursday, August 2, at 7 p.m., preceding the Winding Stair Festival the following week.
