Bernice Martha Manfull was born June 19, 1918, in Tama County ten miles west of Traer, IA, daughter of Herman and Dora Nessler Staker. She grew up on a farm between Gladbrook and Traer. She graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1936 and married Arthur Manfull, Jr., of Traer December 25, 1936. She and her husband farmed near Elberon and west of Buckingham until they moved into Traer in 1968. Bernice worked at Frank's Shoe Store in Traer for 19 years and drove a school bus for North Tama Schools for 13 years.
Bernice loved to bowl, dance, attend sporting events, travel, and spend time with her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church Bernice is survived by her daughter Barbara Winterroth and husband Richard of Reinbeck; sons Dennis Manfull and his wife Kathie of Dysart, IA Sidney Manfull and his wife Donna of Washington, IA , Kim Manfull and his wife Kelli of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000, parents and brothers LeRoy Staker, Wayne Staker and her sister Marlys Vesley. A memorial fund has been established.
