Auxiliary to host sewing day

The Hora-Machacek Auxiliary of Clutier met on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the post home. There was 10 members present.

The evening started with supper at 6:30 p.m. with meeting following.

President Veronica conducted the meeting. Chaplain Mary gave a prayer. The group said the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and Preamble to the Constitution of the Auxiliary. Secretary Evelyn called the roll and read last month's minutes. Treasurer Linda gave unit's financial report. Obligations to department, 3rd district and county were reviewed and paid.

Evelyn Caloud and Veronica Pavlicek attended the school of instruction, which was at the Gladbrook post home on August 21st.

Our unit received a Certificate of Participation for 2011-2012 reports on the Children and Youth Program and Veterans Affairs and Rehabiliation Home and Field Service. The M Myrton Skelly Certificate was presented to Eileen Hora and Brooklyn Hubbard. This certificate is presented to those who collected over $50 distributing poppies in May. The June drawing for the department quilt raffle was won by our unit, which is a wall quilt hanging. Linda Dvorak won the door prize.

The Tama Count joint meeting will be September 25th at Gladbrook post home. Evening will begin with lunch at 6:30 p.m.

Our next meeting is October 2nd, which will be a sewing day. The day will begin at 9 a.m. tearing and sewing sheets into carpet rags for IVH. Our unit can use old sheets or material which we will use for the carpet rags. They can be given to any Auxiliary member.

Anyone in the community is welcome to come assist and enjoy fellowship. We will have a potluck lunch at noon. Our monthly meeting will be at 1:30 p.m.

Our unit will be planning a bake sale in October but date has not bee determined.
