A Garwin man is dead after a fire ravaged his home in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 11.
John Edward Roberts, 53, was found deceased around 5:14 a.m. that day when the Garwin Fire Department responded to a call at his home, located at 519 Maple Street in Garwin.
The Gladbrook Fire Department and deputies from the Tama County Sheriff's Department were among the agencies also responding to the blaze.
Upon arrival, fire personnel were able to locate and entinguish the fire, but found Roberts still inside the home already deceased.
No foul play is suspected in the fire, and investigators are treating it as an accident at this time.
