Lillian L. Walters, 77

Lillian Lou Ann Walters, age 77, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, was born the daughter of Elso and Anna (Tjepkes) Groote on March 12, 1935, near Abbotts Crossing, Hardin County, near Ackley, Iowa. She received her education from rural country schools near her home and graduated from Dike High School in 1953.

On March 31, 1956, Lillian was united in marriage with Jakie at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home on an acreage near New Hartford, Iowa. Lillian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lillian was in fellowship with the Christians at Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington, Iowa. She took the Lord as her personal Saviour while reading Isaiah 53:6. Some of her favorite activities were camping, fishing and cooking. She had a wonderful gift of singing and enjoyed playing the accordion and piano. She loved playing with the grand kids and spending time with family and friends.

Lillian died Friday, September 14, 2012, at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center in Cedar Falls, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lois Camlin and Jeanette Springer; and two brothers, Freeman Groote and Edwin Groote.

Lillian is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jakie Walters of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one son, Brett (Barb) Walters of New Hartford, Iowa; two daughters, Cheryl (Lou) Rausch of Traer, Iowa, and Brenda (Bill) Huntley of Traer, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Jeff Rausch, Jeremy Youngblood, Matt (Regan) Rausch, Josh (Tina) Rausch, Kristy Kopko, Brooke Walters, Brittany (Blake) Overton, Amber Huntley and Jamie Huntley; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Hitesville Gospel Hall, rural Aplington with Mr. Russell Nesbit officiating. The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross", "Blessed Assurance Jesus Is Mine", "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again". Burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg with Bill Camlin, Matt Rausch, Don Camlin, Josh Rausch, Ron Camlin and Jeremy Youngblood serving as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Blake Overton and Jeff Rausch. Amber Huntley, Brittany Overton, Jamie Huntley and Kristy Kopko served on the flower committee.

Visitation was held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and continued for one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.redman-schwartz.com.
