Have fun and learn about "Unhuggables" during Hartman Reserve's annual Halloween Hikes!
Friends of Hartman Reserve is hosting its annual Halloween Hikes event the evenings of October 10-12. Guests at this non-scary, fun event will enjoy performances by Hartman staff and volunteers while learning about the "Unhuggables"- plants and animals in the Cedar Valley that are misunderstood and usually avoided.
Following the hike, guests are invited to warm up with treats, hot cocoa, and cider inside the Interpretive Center. At the near-by Buckles Building, there will be face painting, apple-cidering and wood-carving demonstrations, and a display of this year's coloring contest entries.
Hikes are limited so reserve your spot now! Tickets are $5 each (ages 2 and under free) and will be sold in advance at Hartman Reserve Nature Center and also at the event. Hikes will leave every 15 minutes from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Youth groups are welcomed. Proceeds from the event go to support Hartman Reserve Nature Center and environmental education programs in the Cedar Valley.
New this year is a coloring competition for children! Download a coloring page at www.hartmanreserve.org or stop by Hartman Reserve Nature Center at 657 Reserve Drive in Cedar Falls and pick up a copy.
Return or mail entries to the Nature Center by October 9.
