MARSHALLTOWN - In honor of breast cancer awareness month, Tanya's Studio of Dance is hosting their 1st annual Dancers Against Cancer Dance-A-Thon. This fundraising event will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Marshall Town Center from 10:00am to 7:00pm.

Tanya contacted many dance and fitness studios in the Marshalltown area to participate in her event. After weeks of preparation and organization, each group was assigned a time slot and the event was full. The performing groups throughout the day are Tanya's Studio of Dance, MAT Twirlers, Broadway Dance Studio of State Center, MHS Dance Team, Xtreme Dance & Fitness, the Golden Breakers breakdancing group, and the Cornflake Cloggers. Other groups will offer a demonstration of their talent or free class open to the public. These groups are Gymdigs with a zumba class; YWCA/ YMCA with a power dance/fitness class; Let's Dance Studio with a ballroom swing demo and class; YWCA/YMCA Line dancing demo and class; and Xtreme Dance & Fitness with a hula hoop demo, a zumba class, and a bellydancing class. There will also be a Daddy Dance-Off in the morning, a Family Fitness Fun in the afternoon, and Tot Time in the early evening. All performers, demonstrations, and free classes will be onstage at the north end of the Marshall Town Center.

Free-will donations will be collected throughout the day. All donators will receive a free gift such a breast cancer tattoo, pencil, or sticker. Breast cancer gifts will be available for purchase including t-shirts, water bottles, pins, teddy bears, and bracelets.
