Joan Phyllis Norman, 83, of Traer, IA, passed away October 17, 2012, at Sunrise Hill Care Center. A memorial service was held on November 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Traer United Presbyterian Church.
Joan was born March 7, 1929 in Waterloo, IA, to Chris and Helen (DeBerg) Weber. Joan attended school in Traer and graduated from Traer High School in 1947 . On October 14, 1951, Joan was united in marriage to Jack Norman.
Her married life adventures began as a proud Marine Corps wife. Everywhere that Joan went, she made lifelong friends. She always provided a warm, inviting, and loving home.
Joan loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and home decorator. She was a talented pianist and singer, and an avid golfer and bridge player. In the many places that Joan lived, she always got involved in local clubs and organizations. To know Joan was to love her.
Joan is survived by her husband Jack Norman of Traer; children Pat Norman of Clinton, UT, Sarah (Loren) Dostal of Toledo, IA, Chris (Vickie) Norman of Bakersfield, CA; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Dona (Jack Taylor) Moberly of Santa Rosa, CA and Carol Borden of Strasburg, VA; a niece Ashley Williams, and nephew David Borden. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-1aw Max Moberly and Noel Borden.
