Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary of Clutier held a sewing day on Wednesday, November 7th beginning at 9am.
Those tearing and sewing carpet rags for IVH in Marshalltown were Linda Dvorak, Helen Sevcik, Evelyn Caloud, Pauline Sienknecht, Mary Seda, Eileen Hora, Helen Valentine, Jean Miller, Marilyn Svoboda, Vera Sevcik, Lillian Dostal, and Veronica Pavlicek. Potluck at noon was enjoyed by all.
Marcella Caslavka joined the group for the monthly meeting beginning at 1pm. Secretary Evelyn called the roll and all officers were present. Last months minutes were read and approved as read. Treasurer Linda gave the unit's financial report. Veronica presented a bill for printing and mailing bake sale letters. Pauline Sienknecht made a motion, seconded by Jean Miller, to pay the bill and motion carried. There are several possible candidates for girls state so the reservation form will be sent in.
Veronica thanked everyone for the successful bake sale. Those helping the day of the sale were Mary Seda, Linda Dvorak, Linda and Margaret Babinat and Veronica Pavlicek. Evelyn Caloud and Veronica Pavlicek did the auxiliary memorial service at the cemetary for Adaline Hushak. A monetary gift will be given to the Clutier Library in her memory.
A belated birthday card was signed by all present for Maryan Dostal.
Itemized Donation Documentation from IVH was reviewed for the 15 pounds of rag balls our unit had done in October. Norbert and Evelyn Caloud had attended the Halloween Dance at IVH on October 31st.
The executive board was reminded that the Christmas tree will need to be put up before the first Christmas gathering at the hall.
Tama County joint meeting will be November 27th at the Tama Post home at 7pm. Memorial service will be held for deceased Legion and Auxiliary members this past year. IVH gift wrap will be Decemer 4th and 5th at 8am at Malloy LRC. Call ahead and register if staying for dinner at IVH. Their Christmas open house is Saturday, December 8th at 1-3:30pm.
December 4th will be our monthly meeting at 2pm at the post home. Bring canned goods, boxed products, and paper products for the NE Iowa Food Pantry. Be sure that the canned and boxed products are not expired.
