Wilbert M. Hach, 85

Wilbert Melvin Hach, 85, of Dysart, passed away Friday, Novemeber 16, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital. Visitation was held at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart on Tuesday, November 20 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a service at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. Military graveside rites were provided by the Dysart American Legion with burial at Dysart Cemetery.

Wilbert was born September 25, 1927, on the family farm west of Dysart, IA, son of William and Marie (Marinec) Hach. He received his education in the Dysart schools where he graduated in 1946. He then began farming with his father, and in February of 1951 he entered the United States Army serving in Alaska during the Korean War. Following his discharge in November of 1952, he returned to Dysart. On November 17, 1953, he was united in marriage to Irene Bohnstengel at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart.

Wilb and Irene made their home their entire married life farming the family farm. He also did custom work for area farmers, worked at the ASCS Office, and did carpentry work, including the construction of apartment buildings in Dysart. Work was Wilb's life and after his retirement, he continued to stay active in many projects for family.

When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, being outdoors with his animals, trapping, hunting, and fishing. Wilb loved sports, especially baseball, and was an avid Cubs fan regardless of their record. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Steven and Melvin; and one sister, Gladys.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene; one son, Gary (Missy) Hach of Grapevine, TX; three daughters, Debra (Greg) Beveridge of Denver, CO, Barbara (Ed) Frank of Naples, FL, and Bonnie (Pat) Harrison of Dysart; nine grandchildren, Amy, Katy and Meg Beveridge, Andy and Sarah Donovan, Bailee and Rylee Hach; Lisa (Pete) Eikamp, Nick (Jennie) Harrison; and three great grandchildren, Max, Miles, and Oliver Eikamp.
