On November 20, 2012, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 142 held their meeting at the Traer Memorial Building at 7 p.m.
Our speaker for the night was Mayor Pete Holden. He reported on the "State of the City" address, explaining all that has been happening this past year, such as the city's wind turbine, Traer Manufacturing Building, etc. It was very interesting and we thank him.
President Diane Owwns opened the meeting around 7:20 p.m. Vi Barge and Arlene Schmidt placed the flags. Chaplain Karen Podhajsky said an opening prayer. All spoke the pledge to the flag and sang the Star-Spangled Banner. The preamble was said by our 15 members. Kathy Manfull read the vacant chair. Roll call was answered by seven officers and the minutes were read and approved. Kathy Manfull read the treasurer's report.
Jean Kruse and Ramona Snow had a very nice program at the school for the elementary grades and gave each a participation bracelet.
Karen Podhajsky reported on membership. We have 164 members and need seven more to make our goal of 171.
Kathryn Stammer reported that we have $134 in the emergency fund.
Bloodmobile will be in Traer on December 13 at the Memorial Building. Arlene Schmidt needs crackers, cheese, sausage and cookies, along with help at the blood drive.
There will be filling of boxes for many shut-ins for Christmas on December 15 at 8 a.m.
Pres. Diane and Karen Podhajsky had the draping of the charter for Pauline Howard.
We need colors and coloring books, Kleenex and hand sanitizer for school kids.
The meeting was retired at 8:15 p.m. The chaplain said a prayer. God Bless America was sung. Karen motioned to adjourn and Elaine Fink seconded it. Linda Ohrt served a delicious pumpkin bar dish. Thanks to everyone for the teddy bears going to children in the hospital.
God bless you, one and all. Happy Holidays!
