Girls win three of five, now 3-6 overall

December 28, 2012
Ross Bercik - Managing Editor , Traer Star-Clipper

The North Tama girls have seen their share of something the boys team has yet to experience this season - losses. But despite a tough start to the year, the Redhawk ladies are winners of three of their last five games thanks in large part to the consistent output by senior Allison Zobel.

Zobel had 17 points in the team's December 14 loss to Janesville, and also led the girls with six rebounds.

The ladies overcame a 12-3 first quarter deficit and roared back to beat Tripoli on the road 49-44 on December 18. The winter storm last week postponed what looked to be a very winnable game for the Redhawks, as they were set to take on 4-4 Dunkerton on Dec. 20.

The contest has been rescheduled for a later date, meaning the girls will be back in action on Friday, January 4 of the new year, on the road. The Redhawks will be taking on 8-2 Clarksville, which has been riding high thanks to one of the conference's best players, Hannah Poppe. Gametime is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 4.
