Emmert L. Lund, 90

Emmert Laverne Lund, 90, of Traer, passed away January 5, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo.

Emmert was born on March 30, 1922 in Audubon, Iowa to Chris and Minnie (Rasmussen) Lund. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton, Iowa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII on the USS Chandeleur. He worked for many years at the seed company in Traer.

Emmert is survived by his brothers, Chuck of La Porte City, Fred of Loveland, Colorado, Russ (Carol) of Newhall and Larry (Beth) of Cedar Rapids. His four sisters, Gladys Hummel of Vinton, Shirley Jurgens of Keystone, Kathy Smith of Vinton and Barbara (Ross) Behel of Shellsburg. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Tom Gutzeit of Onslow.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilma Gutzeit, brothers- and sisters-in-law Darrell Hummel, Dean Jurgens, Dolores Lund and Ruth Lund.

Emmert was a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer for the past four years. The family would like to thank them for the care and friendship they gave him.

He will be greatly missed by the family and friends.

We know Em would like to give a shout out to all his friends at Joker's. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
