Dennis A. Walton, 65, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center in Waterloo of cancer. There will be no services, and burial will be at a later date at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.
Dennis Alan Walton was born in Mason City, Iowa: the son of Grant and Evelyn (Juhl) Walton. He graduated from Waterloo East High School with the class of 1965. Dennis entered the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. After discharge, he lived in Council Bluffs and worked for a funeral home and ambulance service. Dennis was an over the road trucker with Coca-Cola for 10 years. He met his future wife, Darlene Monroe and they later married October of 1980; she preceded him in death on April 13, 2012 . They made their home in Waterloo where he cooked at Porky's Red Carpet, they moved to Ackley where he operated Ackley Pizza and Steak. They later returned to Waterloo and ran the Opera House, Rumors Bar and Grill. Dennis then worked for Real Estate "R" Us and later as a handy man for the House Doctor until ill health forced his retirement. Together, Darlene and Dennis enjoyed fishing.
Dennis passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 65. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Darlene and a daughter Kathy. Dennis is survived by a step-son Charles (Betty) Kutin of Marion; 2 step-daughters: Joyce (Rick) Kutin of Cedar Rapids and Phyllis Kutin of Los Angeles, California; a sister Diane Harn of Waterloo; 4 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
