Mildred Halupnick, 88, of Hudson, passed away on May 4, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Visitation and services were held at Overton Funeral Home in Traer on May 8, and St. Mary of Mt. Carmel in Eagle Center on May 9. Burial occurred at Blessing Cemetery in rural Hudson.
Mildred K. Halupnick was born November 13, 1924 in rural Tama County, daughter of Fred and Emma Benda Cizek. She received her education in country school and later graduated from Traer High School. She then did housework for area families and on September 5, 1944 married Alfred "Fritz" Halupnick at St. Vaclav Catholic Church at Clutier. Mildred and Fritz made their home farming all their married life near Hudson. After Fritz's death on June 12, 2004 she remained on the farm. Mildred's death came on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home with her family at her side at the age of 88 years. She was a former member of Blessing Church in rural Hudson and currently was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel in Eagle Center. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering at Harmony House in Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Carl and Fred, sisters Dorothy Popelka and Lucille Harrington and a brother in infancy. She is survived by three sons, Dwayne (Peggy Herman) Halupnick, Steve (Vicky) Halupnick and Craig (Robin Akers) Halupnick all of Hudson, two daughters Jeanette (Darrel) Pedersen of Hudson and Bonnie (Randy) Schumacher of Aurora, IL, two sisters, Pauline Reinberg and Margie Severin both of Keystone, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.
