Redhawks' Nine Sweep Meskawki Settlement
The North Tama baseball team took a pair of games from an inexperienced Meskawki Settlement baseball team, 25-0 and 27-0, on May 22, in Tama. Brody Hulme took the win on the mound pitching three innings and striking out all nine batters. Clayton Blocker pitched one inning and recorded three strikeouts. Hulme and Blocker combined for a perfect game. The Redhawks collected 13 hits in the contest. Brent Billerbeck led the attack with two hits, three runs and three RBIs. Dalton Hulme added two base hits, driving in two runs. Caden Stuart and Kyle Isenhower each added a double. Eight other Redhawks had a hit apiece.
The Redhawks pounded out 18 hits in the nightcap. Brent Billerbeck went four for four at the dish, while scoring four times and knocking in three runs. Cameron Hoeg added three hits, four runs and two RBI's. Clayton Blocker drove in three runs on two hits, including an inside the park homerun. Jacob Wrage hit a single and a double to drive in three runs. Brandon Kaufman added two singles knocking in a pair of runs. Cameron Hoeg earned his first varsity win on the mound striking out two batters and did not allow a hit in the short contest. The Redhawks bench added many hits to the attack. Ben Panfil collected two hits, while Tristain Johaningmeier, Brian Zobel, Cael Kopriva, and Kyle Isenhower each had one hit apiece.
Danker walk off single
The Redhawks knocked off North Linn at J. L. Lister field May 23 on a Huston Danker two run walk off single in the bottom of the seventh. In the seventh inning the Redhawks were facing a defeat down 4-3. Brody Hulme led off the inning reaching first base on an error. Caden Stuart placed a sacrafice bunt down the third base line and the third baseman threw the ball away, setting the table for Danker. Danker lined a 1-0 fastball up the middle to score pinch runner Riley Rohach and Stuart to win the game. The Redhawks played great defense to help secure the win. Billerbeck, the short stop, made a diving play up the middle and proceeded to turn the double play to get the Hawks out of a big jam. Joe Kvidera cut off a potential double deep in the left field gap and threw a perfect strike to Billerbeck who relayed the ball to Blocker at second base for the out. The Redhawks had seven players with a single. Brody Hulme, Caden Stuart, and Clayton Blocker each drove in a run. Jacob Wrage picked up the win in relief pitching 2/3 of an inning. Dalton Hulme pitched four innings allowing three earned runs. Brody Hulme pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up one run.
Redhawks No-Hit Tripoli
North Tama defeated Tripoli 13 to 1 in five innings on May 24 in Traer. The Redhawks pitching staff picked up their third no hitter in four games. Jacob Wrage and Cameron Hoeg combined for the no hitter. Wrage took the win pitching 3 1/3 innings and Hoeg pitched the remaining 1 2/3 innings. The pitching staff struck out 13 of the 15 outs. North Tama had eight hits in the ball game. Jacob Wrage added some power to the attack hitting a double and triple, driving in three runs. Joe Kvidera and Brent Billerbeck each added a double. Dalton Hulme, Brody Hulme, Brandon Kaufman, and Clayton Blocker each slapped a single. The Redhawks are now 4-0 on the year and 3-0 in Iowa Star play. The JV baseball team is 2-0-1. The JV team defeated North Linn and Tripoli and tied 3A opponent South Tama.
