The Tama County Emergency Management Agency is currently offering residents FREE Floodwater Household Clean-up Kits.
Floodwater Household Clean-up Kits will be available for pickup at the Chelsea Fire Department and Tama County Courthouse by appointment by calling 641-484-6261. One kit per household is allowed with a Tama County address and ID required.
Citizens that have flood damage in their homes should contact Tama County dispatch at 641-484-3760 to document their damage so that the information can be forwarded to the State of Iowa.

The recent disaster declaration also activated the Iowa Individual Assistance Program for residents of Tama County. The program provides grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes of 200 percent of the federal poverty level or lower. If your household of three persons has a combined annual income of less than $39,060, you may qualify for this program.
Grants cover home and car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and help cover the expense of temporary housing. Grant applications and instructions are available under the "Disaster Assistance" tab on the Iowa Department of Human Services website at www.dhs.iowa.gov.
Applications must be received within 45 days of the date of proclamation, which was May 28, 2013.
