Author with local ties at Aug. 3 book signing

Local author Sandy (Caslavka) Hoenig will be doing a book signing at Stepping Stones, 14 W Main Street, Marshalltown on Saturday, August 3, from 10 a.m. to noon. A current resident of Winterset, she was born on a farm near Traer. She graduated from high school and Ellsworth Jr. College in Iowa Falls. She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Drake University and is a nationally-certified counselor. Her book "The Joy of Forgiveness" is an outgrowth of her personal experiences and the 40 years she spent as a teacher and school counselor. The book will help readers learn strategies they can use in their personal and/or professional lives to avoid or resolve hurtful situations. The book guides readers through the six stages leading to complete forgiveness. The book features original works of art by Howard Tempero, a graduate of Roosevelt high school in Des Moines, and from the Rhode Island School of Design.
