The regular meeting of the Young Guns 4-H Club was held on June 23 at the Vodochodskys. Everyone met at 1 p.m. to clean ditches along 63 south of Tama before the meeting.
Connor called the meeting to order at 2:50. There were seven members, and seven parents and visitors present. Dakota led the pledge to the American flag and Rachel led the 4-H pledge.
The treasurer's report was given and received as read. Our balance as of June 23 was $991. Jensen approved the report and Liesel seconded it. Jensen is in charge of food for the bucket of junk party. We will be meeting at Roy's garage.
The Tama County Young Guns 4-H Club won first place in the “horse” category at Gladbrook’s Corn Carnival 2013 Parade.
Old business discussed included: set up times to sit at the Corn Carnival booth to start our next raffle. The cost of the booth will be $50. We could sell baked goods at the booth to help cover the cost. We will probably ride in a truck for the parade and every family brings three bags of candy. Dakota motioned to end old business and Jensen seconded it.
New business discussed was to approve a budget for the club. 40 percent of the money deposited will go towards the general budget. 30 percent will go towards the fees, and 30 percent will go towards targets and ammunition.
We will work on the bucket of junk July 5 at 5 p.m. and have a pizza and ice cream party. Dakota motioned to end new business and Bradyn seconded it.
Jensen was the host and she did a presentation on how to make things with duct tape, each member made a duct tape wallet. Rachel made the motion to end the meeting and Dakota seconded it and the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be August 24 at 3 p.m., Rachel will be hosting the meeting and giving a presentation.
