Vernon and Dorothy Hanus were awarded the "Friends of the Fair" Award at the Tama County Fair. Both Vernon and Dorothy were in 4-H-Dorothy being a charter member of the Victory Belles, the club her mother helped organize.
Both were 4-H leaders of the Clutier Cowboys and Victory Belles.
Dorothy served on the county 4-H committee and was Secretary of the Tama County Fair Board for several years. She was on the Fair Board when the Klinefelter building was built. Using his carpentry skills, Vernon helped build the restrooms and repair many other things on the fairgrounds.
Their sons, Martin and Paul, were longtime 4-H members. For this family, 4-H was an important part of life.
