October 11, 2013
Traer Star-Clipper

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary #453 held a sewing day on Tuesday, October 1st. The ladies sewing were Lillian Dostal, Mary Seda, Evelyn Caloud, Helen Sevcik, Eileen Hora, Pauline Sienknecht, and Veronica Pavlicek. They began at 9 a.m. tearing and sewing sheets into carpet balls. Couple of ladies cleaned the hall by dusting and sweeping down the walls and fixtures and cleaning the restrooms. Potluck was enjoyed by all at noon.

President Veronica conducted the monthly meeting after lunch. Financial report was given. Veronica presented bill for new toilet seat in ladies restroom and for the lunch served at the county meeting September 24th that our unit hosted. Pauline Sienknecht made motion and seconded by Evelyn Caloud to pay the bill and motion carried.

Discussion centered on our poppy order that needs to be sent in. We all agreed to increase order for large poppies but less small ones.

October 26th is the 3rd District Fall Conference in Vinton. October 31st is the IVH in Marshalltown Halloween Dance at 1:15 p.m.

Clutier Auxiliary members will be receiving a letter and year planner in the mail. Important date is October 27th as we are having a bake sale which is the same day as Legions Pancake breakfast at the post home in Clutier from 8am to noon.

Our November sewing day will be on Wednesday the 6th as Tuesday is election day. The day will begin at 9 a.m., potluck at noon, and meeting in the afternoon. Anyone in the area to welcome to come and sew with us and enjoy fellowship.

A get-well card was signed by all present for Julia Babinat.
