Mrs. Margaret A. Clardy, age 94, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Adams Street Place.
Margaret was born on April 13, 1919 on the family farm near Dysart, Iowa. She was the oldest daughter of Thomas and Edith Pratt Thiesen.
She graduated from Geneseo Consolidated School in 1936. After graduation she attended Iowa State Teachers College and Gates Business College.
Her first job was at the Triple A Office in Toledo and then at the Equitable of Iowa Insurance Company in Grinnell.
She married Forest Clardy on May 15, 1943 while he was stationed in ROTC school at Grinnell College. They lived there for two years until his discharge from the armed forces in 1945. They moved near her hometown of Dysart and Dinsdale to start farming. In 1970 they decided to sell their farm and retire to Missouri.
Margaret and Forest moved to the central Missouri area and she began working at the Family Services Department in Jefferson City retiring in 1984. She became and active member of the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and Quilter's Circle. She was also a member of the XYZ Club and the Slusher Club.
In her free time, Margaret enjoyed working on the farm with Forest, doing upholstery work, quilting, puzzles, and reading.
Survivors include: her sister, Kathryn (Richard) Junker, her sister-in-law, four nieces, two nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother (Robert Thiesen) and one nephew.
