Mike Pargeon was recently honored with the 2013 Outstanding Service Award. Below is the text of the speech given honoring his service at a recent event:
AWE is a business name well recognized by folks in Traer and surrounding communities. Our outstanding service award this year goes to Mike Pargeon, owner of AWE since 1995. Mike and his wife Gretchen have two daughters, Emily and Olivia, and this family has shared their talents with all of us.
Mike is the kind of guy who supports his family, his friends and his community without a lot of pomp & circumstance. He's a behind-the-scenes kind of guy. He is the guy who shows up at the Winding Stairs Festival to work nights and offers whatever piece of equipment they need to help set up on Main Street. He's the guy who gives employees an early out or extra time off so they can go to a meeting for one of the service organizations in Traer.
When Traer hosted the spring county-wide disaster drill, Mike provided vehicles and he and his staff helped the EMS staff drain fluids, remove glass and prepare for the safety of those training.
Mike and his staff also provide routine and emergency service for the ambulance service. This is done in a timely manner so that if an emergency occurs, those vehicles are ready to serve the community safely.
Mike sets an example for each of us, supporting worthy causes within the community such as BASIC, or one of the many benefits that this community has given for someone in need.
He's also one of the people looking out for our kids. I've heard that when kids have made some bad choices, he's set them straight and taught them how to be accountable and correct their mistakes.
We thank you for your service to the community.
