Soar with Pennies for Patients

December 24, 2013
Jayde Vogeler - Walnut Street Journal , Traer Star-Clipper

Starting last year, National Honor Society (NHS) is making it a tradition to help fundraise for the Pennies for Patients: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Usually, NHS has a penny war to correlate with the program's title. Last year, we raised about $275. This year, we want to take it a step further.

Pennies for Patients is a service learning, character education and philanthropy program that gives students a unique experience making a difference through teamwork-working together to aid thousands of children and adults in the fight blood cancers like leukemia.

This year, donated by our generous Mayor Pete Holden, we are raffling a hot air balloon ride! With your help, this could raise at least $2000. Raffle tickets will be sold at home basketball and home wrestling meets. This balloon ride can hold you and two of your friends. Tickets are selling for one for $5 or three for $10. Help make this step for NHS and future patients!
