NtBASIC Update

January 31, 2014
Craig Greiner , Traer Star-Clipper

Being the NtBASIC leader, I am often asked: What is NtBASIC? What do you do? What religion are you? NtBASIC (North Tama Brothers And Sisters In Christ) is a non-denominational youth group for Junior High and High School students that encourages them to love and follow Jesus. We accept all religions and teach Bible based principals. NtBASIC gathers on Wednesday evenings, typically at the Memorial Building, with Junior High and High School meeting separate. Some of the past message topics have included: John 3:16-17, serving others, faith, miracles, fellowship, evangelism, showing kindness, and the birth of Jesus. NtBASIC believes community involvement (serving others) is critical to instill in our youth. How are we helping in the community? Setting up tables and chairs for an event at the Memorial Building, helping at Lions Park, serving for a Chamber of Commerce meal and raking leaves. We are always looking for areas to help in our community. There are people in our community who, from time to time, need assistance but do not know where to get assistance. NtBASIC wants to be that assistance! If you are in need (or know of someone who is in need of assistance) please contact Craig Greiner. In October, the group helped pack food for Feed My Staving Children and packed enough food in one evening to feed 65 kids two meals a day for an entire year. We have had North Tama Alumni Dean Watts and Erin Guzman as guest speakers. Both blessed us with their stories and provided encouragement. At the end of December, sixteen high school students went to IMPACT Conference , a three day Bible based conference in Coralville. Many of the young adults were able to pay for this from credit earned by them working/serving ice cream from the "Mobile Scoop" last summer. In the words of a few of the attendees "it was awesome!" The Junior High students are encouraged to attend Winterblast Conference, which is aChristian winter retreat with high energy rallies, top notch speakers, Mega-Challenge Snow Competition, small group interaction and a toboggan slide. Back by popular demand, the NtBASIC Banquet Fundraiser will be on February 23, social hour from 5:15-6:00, meal served at 6:00 with program/entertainment to follow. The public is invited, however you must RSVP for this event in order for us to have the proper amount of food and beverage. If you know someone who has questions, wants to be a part of NtBASIC or you just want to come and check it out, please contact Craig Greiner (319) 239-7941or follow us on Facebook: NtBASIC and/or Twitter @NtBASIC.
