Hora-Machacek holds sewing day

Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday, February 11th at the post home in Clutier. The day began at 9am tearing and sewing sheets for rag balls for IVH in Marshalltown. Those sewing were Pauline Sienknecht, Helen Sevcik, Mary Seda, Linda Dvorak, Evelyn Caloud, Lillian Dostal, Margaret Babinat, and Veronica Pavlicek. A potluck at noon was enjoyed by all.

Monthly meeting was conducted by President Veronica. December minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Linda gave units financial report. Veronica presented a bill for materials for making nut cups for the IVH. Pauline made a motion the bill be paid seconded by Margaret. Motion carried. Fifty Valentine nut cups were delivered to IVH in Marshalltown.

Two letters were read from Girl State candidates. There were read to the group without knowing which letter was from which girl. Voted by ballot was done and the winner was from Linda Babinat with Kelsey Pokorny being the alternate.

The Tama County Joint meeting will be Tuesday, February 25th at 7pm at the Gladbrook post home.

Amy from IVH volunteer Services will be the guest speaker.

Received thank you from IVH for the 30 pounds of rag balls our unit had done in October and November for their rug weaving.

Tama County Legion Party at IVH is Saturday March 1st at Malloy LRC. Escorts needed at 12:30pm. March 15th will be the Foreign Food Fair at IVH from 11am to 1pm. Escorts and food at 10am so ready to serve at 11am.. March 22nd is the 3rd District Spring Conference.

Our unit will be having a sewing day on Tuesday, March 4th beginning at 9am. Meeting after the potluck at noon. April 26th will be the Clutier Alumni Banquet that we serve.
