Marjorie D. Ruzicka, 84, of Traer, died Friday, February 28, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, from complications due to a stroke.
She was born August 18, 1929, on the family farm south of Traer, the daughter of James and Lela Poduska Dostal.
Marjorie attended country school at Carroll #2 school from kindergarten thru 8th grade. She graduated from Traer High School in 1947.
After high school graduation she went to work for Mr. Otto Moeller at Farmers Savings Bank where she worked until starting her family. She resumed working at the bank in 1972 and retired in 1992.
Marjorie married Leonard Ruzicka on January 12, 1954, at the Traer United Methodist Church. Marjorie was involved in many community organizations over the years including: Chapter EC P.E.O., American Legion Auxiliary, UMW Circle, Traer Museum Board, Alumni Association Committee, and her 500 card club.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers and lawn. Marjorie enjoyed spending time at her lake home in Minnesota with family. Marjorie loved to plan family vacations and enjoyed creating scrapbooks of the travels. A trip to the Czech Republic in 1996 was a treasured memory.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leonard of Traer; children, Jean (Paul) Brezina of Redwood Falls, MN, and Nancy Ruzicka of Perry; James (Kristi) Ruzicka of Grundy Center and David Ruzicka of Fargo, N.D.; grandsons, Matthew (Ashley) Brezina of Reno, NV, and Timothy Brezina of Brookings, S.D.; a sister, Arlene Wrage of Traer; four nieces and two nephews.
Preceded in death by: her parents; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Wrage and a nephew.
