Betty June Crawford was born on August 23, 1927, at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo, the daughter of Arthur and Forest (Corley) Finks. She was raised in Traer and graduated from Traer High School. Betty then attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. On November 20, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to Richard Crawford in Traer, Iowa. The couple made their home in rural Dysart and moved back to Traer in the Fall of 2010. Betty worked as a dance instructor for 40 years and was a devoted farmer's wife. She was a member of Ripley United Church of Christ, American Legion, Iowana, Return the Favor and Red Hats. Betty was extremely crafty, artistic and supportive of her family. She loved dancing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, sewing, entertaining, cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty died at the age of 86, on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents. Betty is survived by her husband, Richard of Traer; a daughter, Rita Schofield of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a son, Rick (Sue) Crawford of Dysart; five grandchildren, Nathan Schofield of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Christine Schofield of Chicago, Illinois; Kirk (Amy) Crawford of Dysart, Kamie (Josh) Hurley of Cedar Falls, and Kelli Crawford of Chicago, Illinois; and five great grandchildren, Kody and Kolten Crawford and Madison, Kayla, and Rylan Hurley.
