Dorothy Maxine Stuart was born on February 25, 1920, in Howard Township, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Orpha (Hofer) Wilkerson. Dorothy graduated from Belle Plaine High School with the class of 1937. On December 30, 1939, she was united in marriage to Robert Stuart at the Janesville Methodist Church parsonage. Robert died on May 23, 1995. Dorothy worked as a cook in the North Tama School District for 30 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Royal Neighbor's Club and the United Presbyterian Church in Traer. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and cooking. Dorothy died at the age of 94 on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ralph (Pearl) Wilkerson; and her husband. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Ronnie (Marlys) Stuart of Buckingham and James (Kate) Stuart of Fort Dodge; a daughter, Linda (Daryl) Cross of Whitten; seven grandchildren, David Stuart, Douglas Stuart, Kevin Cross, Jaycin Cross, Austin Cross, Parker Stuart and Marshall Stuart; eight great grandchildren, Whitney Sorenson, Courtney Stuart, Caden Stuart, Hannah Stuart, Shannon Stuart, Noah Cross, McKenna Cross and Cody Heck; and two great great grandchildren, Hallie and Brayden.
