Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary met Tuesday, May 6th at 7pm at the post home in Clutier. President Veronica conducted the meeting with 9 members present. Previous minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Linda Dvorak gave unit's financial status. Bills presented were for rolickey for Alumni banquet to Linda Dvorak and groceries for the banquet to Veronica Pavlicek. Margaret Babinat made a motion to pay the bills and seconded by Pauline Sienknecht and motion carried. Will send Richard Wiebbecke a check for half the cost of the new stove.
Veronica reviewed the Alumni Banquet that was served on April 26th.. She was very appreciative with the donations for the groceries and to those who assisted in some way preparing and serving the dinner.
Government day was reviewed with Veronica and Evelyn as the members who assisted. Our unit provided 4 dozen cookies. 120 students attended. Went over the eight questions the students had voted on. We discussed some of the questions and found that the students do realize what our country is facing now and in the future.
Thank you was read from IVH for 19.2 pounds of carpet rags our unit had done in Feb and March. The executive committee will be inquiring and nominating as to the 2014-2015 unit officers.
Marilyn Svoboda made a request for a donation to the Relay for Life to be held June 14th in Toledo. Mary Seda made a motion and seconded by Eileen Hora to donate money for Marilyn to purchase water for the Relay. Motion carried.
Veronica reviewed the joint county meeting that was April 22nd. The county officers will remain the same for the coming year 2014-2015.
The unit will be cleaning and redecorating the crosses and trellises that will be placed on Veteran's raves at local cemeteries on Memorial weekend. This will be done on Mary 22nd at 1pm at the Legion hall. The more hands present the quicker the job is accomplished.
Units next meeting is June 3rd at 7pm at the post home. The next joint county meeting will be June 24th in Elberon. The evening will begin with potluck at 6:30pm followed by flag disposal ceremony and then the meeting.
Door prize was won by Mary Seda. Due to May day and upcoming Mother's Day everyone took home a house plant given by president Veronica. Pauline Sienknecht was hostess and served sandwiches which all enjoyed.
