Clark Wood, 67, of Marion and formerly of Traer, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Visitation will be at Overton Funeral Home on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Striking the Four Fives Fireman Ceremony at 4 p.m.
Clark C. Wood was born on September 9, 1946, in Waterloo, the son of J.C. and Ruth I. (Bowen) Wood. He grew up on the family farm north of Traer and graduated from Traer High School in 1964. Clark then began working for the Vokoun Motor Company. In 1974, he worked for Ray Holst Incorporated and then spent 38 years working for John Deere. On December 22, 1967, Clark was united in marriage to Pat Whitcomb at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. In 1970, Clark joined volunteer fireman with the Traer Fire Department and was Fire Chief from 1983 to 1988. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Hisperia 340 in Traer. Clark enjoyed fishing and refurnishing furniture. Clark died at the age of 67 on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his home in Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents. Clark is survived by his wife, Pat; three daughters, Lynda Bowen of Marion, Casey Wood of Traer and Summer (Jimmie) Wood of Marion; a brother, Neal (Kathy) Wood of Traer; two granddaughters, Miranda Bowen and Jayla Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
