Ruth A. Freeburg, 61, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Service will be held at IVH on Sunday, May 25 at 12:30 p.m. with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Ruth Anne Freeburg was born on September 20, 1952, in Charles City, Iowa, daughter of Rev. Dr. Gordon Neil Freeburg Sr. and Dr. Rosanne Crichton Geldert Freeburg. She graduated high school from Davenport West in 1970. Ruth served her country in the United States Army from 1971 to 1972 and in the Army Reserves for many more years. She worked as a registered nurse in Vinton, Iowa City, Traer and Cedar Rapids. Ruth loved crafts, gardening, fishing, camping, running and other outdoor activities. Ruth died at the age of 61 on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her father. Ruth is survived by her mother; a son, Jason (Jessica) Burroughs of Grundy Center; a daughter, Jaime Burroughs of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; two brothers, Dr. William John (Margaret) Freeburg and Gordon Neil (Laura) Peterson; two sisters, Merrilee Freeburg (Paul) Tomlinson and Minnetta Freeburg (Patrick) Costa; and four grandchildren, Kassidy, Austin, Brittany, and Ava Ann.
