Marjorie Kremenak Cochran, 89, of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 19 at Friendship Village Lakeview Landing.
She was born November 7, 1924, in Traer, Iowa the daughter of Anton and Lucy Kosnar Kremenak. She married Walter R. Cochran on November 24, 1951 at Grace Brethren Church, Waterloo. Together they celebrated almost 62 years of marriage.
She was a graduate of the Kahler School of Nursing and attended Iowa State Teachers College and Denver Rockmont College.
Throughout her years she served on the boards of Waterloo, Iowa and Rock Island, Illinois YWCA's as well as Christian Womens Club Boards in both cities. She was an active musician and youth director in her churches as well as an avid gardener who gave talks on roses.
Survivors include: her husband, Walter R. Cochran of Waterloo; two sons, John (Jamy) Cochran of Bettendorf and Don (Judy) Cochran of Apple Valley, Minn.; a daughter, Janet (Floyd) Rawleigh of Strasburg, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Ruth Kremenak of Pahrump, Nev.
Preceded in death by: her parents Lucy and Anton Kremenak ; two brothers, Charles Kremenak and Vincent Kremenak; a sister, Helen Rekers.
Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where family will greet friends after 1 p.m.
