August 22, 2014
Traer Star-Clipper

Greg Cuvelier, owner of Greg's Taxidermy in Aplington, recently competed at the 43rd Annual National Taxidermist Association Convention and Competition in Springdale, Arkansas. Greg entered four mounts in the competition, which included a black duck, largemouth bass, whitetail deer and raccoon. Greg used these four mounts in the Best All Around Taxidermist competition. In order to compete for this award, the competitor must enter one mount in each of the four categories. These categories are birds, fish, game heads and life-size mammals. The competitor with the highest numerical score wins this award. Greg was awarded with the Tohickon Award of Distinction as the 2014 National Best All Around Taxidermist. This would be second time that Greg has won this award. He was honored with the National Best All Around Taxidermist award in 2010 as well.

Greg also entered his raccoon in the "Division of Excellence" category for life-size mammals, which is the highest level of competition. Greg's raccoon was the highest scoring mount in this division and was awarded as the "North American Champion" life-size mammal.

Greg's Taxidermy is located at 346 Parrott Street in Aplington, Iowa, and can be reached at 319-347-2390.
