John J. Docekal, 99

John Joseph Docekal was born on May 6, 1916, in Clutier, the son of Joseph and Mary (Sedlacek) Docekal. John attended school in rural Clutier. He then worked as a hired man for area farmers. On February 15, 1941, he was united in marriage to Agnes Losenicky in Clutier. John then started farming northeast of Dysart. In 1960, he moved in to Dysart and continued farming with his son, Rich, until his retirement when he was 75. He also worked as a program supervisor for ASCS in Vinton from 1957 to 1975. John served on the board for the Tama Benton Coop, the Dysart Tree Board and the Dysart United Methodist Church board. He always kept active, helping area residence with yard work. John enjoyed John Wayne movies, polka music, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with his family. John died at the age of 99 on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and sister. John is survived by a son, Rich (Shelly) Docekal of Dysart; a sister in law; four grandchildren, all of Dysart; four great grandchildren; and one great granddaughter on the way.
