Hubert A. Seago, 87

Hubert Seago, 87, of Vinton and formerly of Dysart, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016. Visitation will be held at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart on Saturday, July 9. 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Dysart Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Dysart American Legion.

Hubert Arthur Seago was born on December 11, 1928, in Arlington, Iowa, the son of John and Thelma (Weston) Seago. He attended school in Volga until the 10th grade. Hubert served his county in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict. On June 22, 1957, he was united in marriage to Luyverl Waterman at Elk Port Lutheran Church near Guttenberg. Hubert worked as a hired man on dairy farms in Elgin, Wisconsin, Elkader, and Dysart. He also worked for Funks Seedcorn in Traer and Belle Plaine. He was a member of the Dysart American Legion and enjoyed woodworking, sweetcorn, and morel mushrooms. Hubert died at the age of 87 on Friday, July 1, 2016, at the Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab Center in Vinton following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Eula Berger, Verna Squires, Alta Odegard, and Sharon Rohrig. Hubert is survived by his wife; two daughters, Vicki (Scott) Judas of Denver and Sue Wallin of Dysart; a son, Mark Seago of Dysart; and four grandchildren, Jessica Judas, Michael Wallin, Kylie Seago, and Katy Wallin.
