Kubik-Finch Post #142 May, June meeting recaps

On May 16, 2017, at the Kubik-Finch Pose #142 Legion Auxiliary meeting, Karen Podhajsky, Wilma Loutsch, Diane Owens, and Kathy Manfull prepared a meal honoring our Gold State Members Elsie Gates and Audrey Babinat. Audrey was present plus our Little Miss Poppy, Brityn Blaine and her grandmother Cindy Blaine. The dinner was yummy, thank you ladies!

President Kathy Stammer held a meeting after dinner. The flags were placed and the Star Spangled Banner was sung, along with the Preamble and the Vacant Chair being said. The minutes and Treasurer's Report were given and approved. 19 members plus Miss Poppy were present. We had a full roll call of officers.

Karen P. presented a bill for the meal. Vi Barge motioned it to be paid and Arlene Schmidt seconded it.

Diane Owens and President Kathy presided over the draping of the cloth for our dearly departed members Helen Kauschildt and Mary Ann Novak.

Audrey B. thanked the ladies ofr the plant and meal she received. Little Miss Poppy gave all the ladies a poppy for a donation.

We will give a donation to Camp Courageous, Ronald McDonald House, BASIC, Traer Ambulance and Rally Point from our unit.

The next meeting was held on June 20 at 7 p.m. with Donna Kersten and Kay Kladivo as hostesses. Bingo was played after we adjourned. Many nice gifts were received and all had fun.

On June 20, 2017, the Kubik-Finch Post #142 Legion Auxiliary meeting was opened by President Kathy Stammer at 7 p.m. Diane Owens offered a prayer after the flags were placed by Vi Barge and Donna Kersten. The pledge to the flag was said and the Star Spangled Banner was sung with Sharon Allen at the piano. The Preamble was said and the Vacant Chair was read by President Kathy. Seven officers answered roll call and nine members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and Vi Barge gave the Treasurer's Report. Both were approved as read.

No bills were presented. A couple of thank yous were read. Arlene Schmidt reported on Poppy Days. $214.72 was our profit. 33 pillows were cleaned at $2.25 each for us, for a total of $74.25.

President Kathy and Chaplain Diane did the service of the draping of the cloth for Margaret Baker and Delores Caslavka. Karen Podhajsky and Diane Owens presided over the memorial service from June 2016 to June 2017.

Cecelia Podhajsky - member since 1973; Mary Ann Novak - member since 1976; Helen Hauschildt - member since 1990; Margaret Baker - member since 1946; and Delores Caslavka - member since 1955. God bless them.

All officers agreed to stay in tack. Vi Barge would like to resign from the Red Cross Bloodmobile, which will be at the Memorial Building on July 13 from 1 to 6 p.m. Please give blood if you can!

On July 18, there will be the Annual Picnic Potluck at 6 p.m. Hostesses are Audrey Babinat and Joyce Hite. Installation of officers, no meeting in August.

God Bless America was sung by all. Karen motioned we adjourn and Arlene seconded it at 7:45 p.m. Lunch was served by Donna Kersten and was very good! May God bless everyone!
