Tama County residents turn out for Bible Reading Marathon

July 7, 2017

Tama County completed its Bible Reading Marathon beginning on June 26th in Montour and ending July 1, 2017 in Elberon. The other ten towns of Tama, Toledo, Garwin, Clutier, Chelsea, Vining, Lincoln, Gladbrook, Traer, and Dysart, read sometime between that period of time.

We read from Genesis to Revelation with each town reading about seven hours apiece to complete the whole Bible . A big thanks to those who chaired each town and to those who read. We also thank City Councils for allowing us time to tell of the reading and to use various areas in the towns to read.

Comments from those reading were they just felt the presence of the Lord and it was a blessing to read His Word aloud giving honor to God and celebrating our First Amendment freedoms. Also keeping in mind Isaiah 55:11 that the Bible's transforming power would go forth: "My Wordwill not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire. And Hebrews 4:12 also tells us: "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."

The Forefathers of this great nation, the United States of America sought prayer and Biblical principles to establish the Declaration of Independence 241 years ago and we felt honored to read all of God's Word as tribute to celebration our annual Independence Day also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth.

Now we challenge everyone to keep reading the Bible and to realize the Word helps to tell us the Heart of God and that we need to bring our heart in line with His Heart. We also need to take more time to stand in the gap, be the conduit, and activate God's will here on earth. Our nation and our world needs everyone helping.

Students from a Christian After School Program in Dysart even joined in the reading of the Word. A home school family came to proclaim the Word of God.
