Joe Harrison

Traer Star-Clipper

A memorial mass to honor the life of our dad, Joe Harrison, was celebrated on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Dad's life was guided by a deep and abiding faith. It was enriched by the love of his parents, his siblings, his relatives, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, his great-great-grandchildren, and countless friends, co-workers, and employees. He was respected, admired, and was a man of integrity. He will be remembered for ages by those he loved.

He entered heaven on the night of October 3, 2017 with balloons in hand and a "Hi Babe" on his lips for our mother, whose birthday in heaven was October 4th. There also to greet him were his parents, Al and Evelyn Harrison; his sister Shirley; his son Jack; his daughter in heart Pam; his granddaughter Kimberly; the huge family of his wife Barbara; and dear friends Herb, Tom and Art, who were anxious to show Joe the fairways and greens of paradise.

Those left to cherish him are his daughter Kathy (John) Gargan; his son Joe (Karen) Harrison; daughter Teri (Greg) Fraser; and son Jim (P.J.) Harrison. He is survived by 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was blessed with and is survived by his brother Jack and his dear sister Barbara, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dad was a humble man, but one thing filled him with pride and he was happy to boast about his Irish heritage. Remember him with a smile on your face and hope in your heart, as we will.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you give to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, PO Box 4002036, Des Moines, IA 50340-2036.
