Darrel Lynn Podhajsky

Darrel Lynn Podhajsky, 72, was born January 28, 1946, to Joseph and Maxine (Konicek) Podhajsky. He passed away Thursday October 25, 2018 at his home in Oklahoma City, OK.

He graduated from Traer High School with the class of 1964. He farmed with his father before enlisting in the Marine Corp Reserves, serving his country from 1965 until 1971. On January 26, 1974 he was united in marriage to Linda West at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer, IA. He continued farming and when asked by his parents, went into partnership with his father, farming and raising cattle until 2000. He then worked for the Meskwaki Casino in Tama, IA as a casino ambassador until 2010. Darrel and Linda moved to Oklahoma City, OK in 2014 to spend quality time with family.

Darrel enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, playing golf and enjoying the outdoors. Some of his fondest memories were of his fishing trips in Canada with the guys and hanging out with his friends at the golf course. He was a long-time member of the Kubik-Finch Post of the American Legion in Traer. He loved spending time with his family and the time spent with his grandsons.

Survivors include Linda his wife of 44 years, two sons Bradyn Podhajsky and Blake (Kelli) Podhajsky, and three grandsons Keaton, Dane and Cole Podhajsky.

Services and internment will be Saturday, November 24 at St. Paul Catholic Church at 10:30 am with visitation one hour before services. Memorials may be directed to the family.
