Two North Tama Speech groups traveled to Pella High School on Saturday, Jan. 26 for postponed Large Group Speech Districts, with the Short Film group moving on to State next weekend.

According to Levi LaRue, their instructor, the Short Film group created "a video about hidden illnesses and the anxiety and depression that come with the illnesses, made by a student who suffers from some of these conditions." The group-consisting of Christian Steinwandt, Brady Riechmann, DaLynn Pokorny, Andreas Weber, Sable Fehr and Sonja Toulouse.-received a Division 1 rating and will be showing their video at State on February 2 at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School.

An Improv group made up of Stan Miller, Jesse Ford, Logan Finzen and Xander Finzen received a Divsion II rating and will not move on. However, LaRue noticed improvement in the young group and looks forward to seeing what they can do next year.

"The Improv group did well considering we haven't had school or practice all week," LaRue said. "We got some things to work on still for next year, but an improvement from their freshmen year."

The Traer Star-Clipper will publish results from the Short Film group's presentation at State in next week's publication. Weather postponed Districts and could potentially delay the State contest.
