County gets two new sirens with grant help

November 23, 2012

Tama County is the beneficiary of two new storm sirens at the county fairgrounds in Gladbrook as well as Otter Creek Park. The $26,000 cost was entirely paid for with grant money, and the sirens will be able to be activated by Tama County 911 staff as well as area fire departments and law enforcement agencies. According to Ryan Currens of Tama County Emergency Management, the county has also installed signs at several area locations to make it easier for the public, and first responders, to determine their location more quickly and efficiently. Some of the new signs are on display on county fairground buildings, as well as wind turbines in the Gladbrook area.
