Lawrence Raymond Koebke, 86, of Traer, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. Graveside services were held Tuesday, November 20 at 10 a.m. at the Crystal Cemetery in rural Toledo.
Lawrence was born October 12, 1926 in Des Moines, IA. He was raised in Ottumwa, Iowa and later moved to Blairstown, Iowa where he attended school. He served his country during WWII and for the past 40 years Lawrence has made his home in Traer with his lifelong partner Carol Waltemate. Lawrence worked as an auctioneer for Tubaugh Brothers and was a livestock buyer for area farmers for over 60 years. His death came at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Opal Lively, a sister Diane Lively and a son Gerald Koebke Sr.
Survivors include his lifelong partner Carol Waltemate of Traer, a daughter Ginger Warner of Greenwood, MO and a step daughter Chris (Marlyn) Cross of Iowa Falls, IA, grandchildren Katrina Koebke and her fianc Michael of Tampa, FL, Bobbie (Matt) Kruse of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Gerald Koebke Jr of Beaman, IA, Sheri Voy of Marengo, IA, Jake Miller of Anamosa, IA, Jack Warner and Lily Warner both of Greenwood, MO and 4 great-grandchildren.
