Redhawks look strong heading into districts

Redhawks 19, GMG 3

The Redhawks beat GMG in six innings 19 to 3. The ballgame was played in Green Mountain on Monday, July 1. The Redhawk bats were red hot the Hawks pounded out 13 hits, including eight doubles. Brody Hulme went three for four at the plate with two doubles. Hulme drove in three runs and scored twice. Brent Billerbeck, Jacob Wrage, Dalton Hulme, Brandon Kaufman, and Cameron Hoeg each hit a double and collected two RBI's. Caden Stuart hit two doubles and scored four times, driving in a run. Clayton Blocker hit a single and scored three times. Brandon Kaufman was the winning pitcher in 3 2/3 innings of work. Kaufman gave up three runs on four hits and three walks, while fanning four batters. Kaufman improves to 4-0 on the mound. Brody Hulme finished the game, pitching 2 1/3 innings. Hulme did not allow a run and whiffed six batters. The Redhawks improve to 22-6 on the season and wrapped up Iowa Star Conference play with a record of 12-2. The JV team beat the GMG JV team to improve their record to 9-5-2. Caden Stuart was the winning pitcher.

Redhawks Play at Riverfront Stadium

The Redhawks played North Butler at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo on Tuesday, July 2. The Redhawks were defeated 4 to 2. The Redhawks made a couple critical mistakes and lined out five times in the ball game. North Butler's speed was too much for the Redhawks, stealing 7 out of 11 bases. Jacob Wrage pitched well but took the loss. Wrage pitched the complete game allowing just one earned run on six hits and two walks. Wrage struck out seven batters. The Redbirds slapped four hits in the contest. Jacob Wrage and Dalton Hulme each hit a single to drive in a run. Brandon Kaufman and Clayton Blocker added a single. The Redhawks drop to 22-7. The JV team lost to to North Butler 3-2.

Twin Wins for the Freshman Team

The North Tama Freshman team earned twin wins in a freshman double header. North Tama traveled to Green Mountain on Wednesday, July 3 to play against GMG. Twins Will Earley and side arm pitcher Joe Earley each were winning pitchers for the Redhawks. Will pitched game one and Joe pitched game two. The young Redhawks pounded out many hits to help improve their record to 11-5-2.

Redhawks Sweep 4A Waterloo East

The Redhawks swept a pair from 4A Waterloo East Friday July 5 at J. L. Lister Field. The wins move North Tama to 24-7 on the season. The Redhawks beat East High's ace 5-1 in the first game. Dalton Hulme, the winning pitcher, took a no-hitter into the top of the sixth inning before East High broke up the no-hitter on an infield hit. The Redhawks made several great defensive plays including Joey Kvidera's diving catch in left field, center fielder Cameron Hoeg's snag deep in the right center gap, and first baseman Brody Hulme's over the shoulder catch in shallow right field. The Redhawk defense ranks second in class 1A. Dalton Hulme earned his 6th win of the season. Hulme pitched a complete game and did not give up an earned run on two hits and two walks, while whiffing eight batters. Hulme has been outstanding on the hill the second half of the season. The Redhawks collected nine hits in the ball game Jacob Wrage went two for three with 2 RBI's. Dalton Hulme hit a single and a double. Brent Billerbeck scored a run and hit a double. Clayton Blocker hit a single to drive in a run.

North Tama won the second game 17-5, by the mercy rule in five innings. Dalton Hulme led the Redbirds at the plate. Hulme hit a single and a two-run homer to knock in three runs. Brandon Kaufman hit a single and a double with bases loaded to clear bases. Caden Stuart hit two singles, scored three times and had one RBI. Brent Billerbeck hit two singles, scored three times and stole four bases. Cameron Hoeg hit a double to force in two runs. Brody Hulme and Jacob Wrage each had a RBI double. Clayton Blocker added a RBI single. Brody Hulme was the winning pitcher. Hulme pitched 4 innings allowing five runs on 4 hits and a walk. Hulme struck out four batters. Caden Stuart pitched one inning and retired the side.
