Hines joins other local authors at signing

August 2, 2013
Traer Star-Clipper

CJ Hines, local author, will be at the Stepping Stones Christian Bookstore in Marshalltown on August 3 from 10 a.m. to noon for a book signing of the new novel "The River of Grief: Refining Your Sorrow for God's Glory,"

Another author, Sandra Hoenig of Des Moines will also be there to sign her book, "Joy of Forgiveness."

Hines is a native of Cedar Falls and a former reporter/editor for the Waterloo Courier.

Though it's inevitable that people die, when a close loved one passes away, individuals may feel like they have died, too. The trouble is that the rest of the world doesn't share in their grief.

But in her new book, "The River of Grief: Refining Your Sorrow for God's Glory," Hines emphasizes that God doesn't intend for people to make the journey of grief alone.

Hines hopes readers will see that, with God's help and a little understanding of the grieving process, they can again experience the joy God intends for them to have. She illustrates, by sharing stories of her own grief, how to navigate the swirling waters of the River of Grief, with God's hand guiding them all the way.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/ bookstore, as well as barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Hines is a former newspaper reporter and editor, working in the lifestyles/features department of The Waterloo Courier. She is a member of the Christian Writers Guild, and her Christian-focused articles have appeared in "Lutheran Woman Today," "Christ in Our Home," "The Lookout," "Chicken Soup for the Soul: All in the Family" and the Guideposts book series on extraordinary prayer. She is a member of Prairie Lakes Church, where she also facilitates its grief support classes. Hines and her husband, Randy, live in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and have two married children and three grandchildren.
