Wilma Mae Bowen was born on September 8, 1927, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil and Hazle (Henry) Winn. She grew up and attended school in Downing, Missouri. On May 23, 1942, Wilma was united in marriage to Robert Loren Bowen in Edina, Missouri. The couple made their home in the communities of Des Moines, Oskaloosa, Dysart, Clutier and Traer. For the past seventeen years, Wilma made her home in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Sunnycrest Nursing Center in Dysart, Sunrise Hill Nursing Home in Traer, and did household cleaning for many families in the area. Wilma enjoyed going to Florida, Branson, Chicago and Kansas to visit family. She also loved sewing, cleaning and cooking. Wilma died at the age of 86 on Friday, December 28, 2013, at the Cottage Grove Health Center in Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Floyd and James; and a son in law, Butch Johnson. Wilma is survived by four daughters, Mary (Craig) Untiedt of Shorewood, Illinois, Donna Johnson of Fort Myers, Florida, Doris (Warren) Holst of Cedar Rapids and Alice Bowen of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mary Couch of Carthage, Illinois and Myrtle Fisher of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren, Kim Gilman, Tracey Durham, Renee Schuldt, Shawn Holst and Scott Holst; seven great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
