North Tama employees honored for commitment to our local students

Josh Youel, North Tama Elementary Principal, is the first recipient from the State of Iowa of the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) Person of the Year for 2017. Mr. Youel will be honored at the Learning Supports Conference in Des Moines on May 9.

Anne Turner was the recent Spotlight Teacher for the nationally known educational company, FableVision. All of her creative and innovative work in her Kindergarten classroom was highlighted as the Spotlight Teacher. Mrs. Turner is also a FableVision Learning Ambassador.

Vonna Watson (1st Grade teacher) and Brenda Kaufmann (2nd Grade teacher) both received the Excellence in Science Teaching Award from the Iowa Academy of Science for their work teaching elementary science at North Tama. There are only two winners of this award for the whole state and North Tama received both of these. Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Kaufmann will be honored on April 21 at a banquet hosted by the University of Northern Iowa.
